DRUGS

Should They Be Used?

For long there has been the controversy over the adoption of conscientious drugs in the global spectrum. We have not yet forgotten the episode of Ben Johnson of Canada in the Seoul Olympics, 1988. Though he was banished from the arena of Olympics, for him and several others the meet of international games has been tainted forever. In this regard, it can be said that in the American society there happen to be many who in order to regulate the morals of other individuals enact laws that do prohibit the use of certain products and services. Though on the contrary, there has also been a view, if found profitable any drug should be allowed to be used by any athlete. However, these drugs are known to have side effects that includes the shrinking of the male genitalia area, the shrinking of breasts in females, and possible death. But there has also been a long demand regarding the enactment of this, since this happen to be used by the adults only and shall be confined within the personal lifestyle choice.

But till now only violation of these have only been perceived. Since we are in a different genre where sports is no longer a form of entertainment, but a definite means of earning millions for which the athletes prefer to do anything to retain the positions. Sports is by nature competitive and for the sake of money the athletes are ever ready to become deadly enemies of others. But how to proceed? Since not only in athletics but also in other sports there is the ample use of these drugs, of late. To some the performance enhancing drugs hurts the competitive spirit of sports, endangers the lives of athletes and give those who use these drugs an iniquitous edge. There is no such ethical question when the boxers pounce at each other sensitizing the ambit of the audience! So the use is a personal choice, but there should not be any legal prohibition as such. This is the perception from several quarters.
